Volleyball Moves To 16-6 With 3 Set Sweep

Bronxville, NY: USMMA took their 5th win on the road this year from Sarah Lawrence Monday night in a 3 set sweep (25-8, 25-10, 25-3). This marks the Mariners' 16th win of the season and one of the highest hitting percentages in a single match on the season at a blistering 0.429.

Freshman setter Kayla Gleason (Sound Beach, NY) handed out 20 assists in the match combined with 8 aces on the match. In the third set, Gleason took off like a rocket behind the service line opening up a 17-0 lead for Kings Point.

Offensively, USMMA was led by senior outside hitter Cassandra Palma (Loomis, CA) with 10 kills and just 2 errors on 20 attempts for a hitting percentage of 0.400. In addition, Palma added 4 digs to help out the KP team. Right alongside was freshman outside hitter Liz Grove (Winchester, VA) who added in 6 kills on 11 attempts at a 0.364 clip. Sophomores Jordy Macbeth (Orlando, FL) and Gabby Marionakis both added in 5 aces a piece to take down the Gryphons.

The Mariners return to action on Wednesday (10/15/14) night at the Brooklyn College West Quad Center at 7:00pm for their second match up against the Bulldogs this season.
