Three Game Sweep By Volleyball, Now 13-3!

Purchase, NY - The USMMA women's volleyball team advanced to 13-3 (1-2) last night as they swept the Purchase College Panthers in three straight sets (25-7, 25-7, 25-12).

The Mariners' offense was led by junior setter Riley Huelbig (Silver Spring, MD) who handed out 23 assists in the match. The second set saw 15 straight serves from Huelbig and there was no question that the Mariners were in control from the beginning.

Senior Cassandra Palma (Loomis, CA) increased her season aces to 36 last night after adding a cool 12 aces to the match. Sophomore Darin Zacharias (Virginia Beach, VA) and Huelbig picked up 7 aces and 5 aces respectively, helping to combine for the team's 26 total aces in the match.

The offense was swinging away with senior middle blocker Jennifer Perkins (N. Attleboro, MA) increasing her season hitting percentage to .343 last night as she added 4 kills to the Mariners' 24 total kills on the match. Sophomore Amanda See (Waukesha, WI) also added 4 kills and hit an impressive 0.571 in three sets.

The USMMA volleyball team heads to Bethlehem, PA to take on Landmark Conference opponents Elizabethtown (1:30pm) and Moravian (6:30pm) this Saturday, October 4th.
