Freshman libero Michelle Danhof (San Antonio, Texas) has been named the Mariners' women's athlete of the week for her performance in the 3-1 volleyball victory over John Jay College on Thursday.
Danhof contributed a match-high 20 digs and nine service aces as Kings Point defeated the Bloodhounds in New York City.
The Mariners (8-12) dropped the first encounter, 25-17, but swept the final three, 25-15, 25-12, 25-12 against the Bloodhounds (0-17).
John Jay recorded a win in the first set – only its second victory this season -- before the Mariners went on a roll. The Bloodhounds had a 5-1 lead in the second set, but the Mariners bounced back. They turned around a 6-5 deficit into a 14-6 advantage behind the servicing of Danhof.
The Mariners travel to Washington, D.C. this weekend. They will play Juniata and Goucher on Saturday and Moravian on Sunday.
