The praise comes after Vandermeer's performances in the Mariners' four meets last month.

She came in first place in three events – the 200m (27.24), the 400m (1:01.75) and the long jump (4.59m), while also taking second in the 100m (13.32) and as part of the 4x100 (54.90) and the 4x400 (4:28.91).

Earlier in the month at the USMMA-hosted Coach Omeltchenko Invite, Vandermeer placed second in the 400m (1:01.71) and the long jump (4.97m). She also had two top-25 finishes at the competitive TCNJ Invite the first weekend of April, coming in 21st in the 100m (13.35) and 25th in the 200m (27.14). She began the month back on April 3 in a home dual-meet against arch-rival Coast Guard with a victory in the 400m with a time of 1:01.35.
