NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Feb. 9, 2019) – The USMMA women's track & field team had a successful day at Yale's 13th Annual Giegengack Invitational on Saturday at the Bulldogs' Historic Coxe Cage. Three new Academy Records were set and one ECAC Qualifying Mark was achieved.
For the second-straight week the distance medley relay team set a new Academy record, as the team of freshman Brooke Jorstad (La Crosse, Wis.), junior Alexa Vandermeer (Grove Heights, Minn.), senior Kelsey Ramirez (Stevensville, Mich.) and freshman Robin King (Raymond, Ohio) won the event with a first-place time of 13:01.72.
That time was also an ECAC Qualifying Mark for the women's DMR, as the team has booked their tickets to the ECAC Championships in March.
Vandermeer also set two new Academy records in the 60m in 8.42 and the 400m in 1:01.94.
The Mariners got another first-place finish from King in the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:19.22.
