USMMA Women Only Results
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (Feb. 4, 2017) – The USMMA women's track & field teams competed in the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday up in Connecticut. The day was highlighted by the 4x400 meter relay team of junior Alex Miller (Stevensville, Mich.) with freshmen Sophia Tucker (Navarre, Fla.), Alexa Vandermeer (Grove Heights, Minn.) and Anna Lewis (Lakehead, Calif.) setting a new Academy record with a time of 4:22.66.
The results of the head-to-head matchup against arch-rival Coast Guard has not been determined yet and when they are, this recap will be updated at this link.
The 4x400 relay squad came in fourth place in the event, which was the top finish on the day for the women.
Individually, Vandermeer and Miller both had 12th place finishes - Vandermeer in the 400 meter (1:03.84) and Miller in the triple jump (9.17m - 30' 1").
Tucker came in 13th in the 600 meter with a time of 1:52.85 and freshman Ally McFadyen (Saint James, N.Y.) placed 14th in the shot put with a toss of 10.00m (32' 9.75").
Up next, the Mariners will compete in the St. Joseph's Winter Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 11, out at St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, N.Y. The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
