Women’s Track & Field Competes At Monmouth Season Opener Saturday

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (March 26, 2016) – The USMMA women's track & field team took part in the Monmouth 21st Annual Monmouth Season Opener along with a primarily Division I field of opponents in New Jersey on Saturday.

Sophomore Alex Miller (Stevensville, Mich.) had the top finish on the day for the Mariners, as she placed in 20th in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.00. She also came in 29th place in the 200-meter dash in 28.43.

Freshman Kelsey Ramirez (Stevensville, Mich.) ran a 2:31.36 in the 800-meter run, which was good for 25th place.

Merchant Marine returns to action next Saturday, April 2, when the squad travels up to New London, Conn., to take part in the CGA Spring Invitational, hosted by Coast Guard.
