Women’s Track & Field Participate In Lions Invitational Friday Night

HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (Feb. 12, 2016) – The USMMA women's track & field team took part in the Lions Invite on Friday night, hosted by Molloy College at St. Anthony's High School. A total of nine Mariners competed in the event, which was not scored.

The distance medley relay squad of sophomores Kaylee Kaylee (Canfield, Ohio) and Alex Miller (Stevensville, Mich.) with freshmen Kelsey Ramirez (Stevensville, Mich.) and Erica Lawlor (Strafford, Conn.) led the meet off with a second-place finish in 14:05.91. It was the Mariners top finish of the night.

Individually, freshman Emma Alcantar's (Huntsville, Ala.) placement of 22nd in the shot put event with a toss of 7.79 meters (25' 6.75") was the squad's highest finish on the evening.

Merchant Marine returns to action on Saturday, when the squad travels to West Long Branch, N.J., to take part in the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Open at the Hawks' Multipurpose Activity Center.
