KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Feb. 5, 2017) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's swimming & diving team lost its dual meet finale on Saturday afternoon to visiting Rowan University, 193-105, at the O'Hara Hall Pool. In defeat, the Mariners close out the regular season with a 9-2 record, while the Profs improve to 6-3.

Prior to the meet, the Mariners paid tribute to their three graduating seniors with a special Senior Day ceremony honoring Catherine Don (Quincy, Ill.), Jolyn Green (Riverside, Calif.) and Blythe Fentress (Shady Shores, Texas).

The Mariners earned four victories on the day, two of which came in the diving competitions by Fentress. She won both the three-meter dive (210.90) and the one-meter dive (232.73).

Also claiming wins at the meet were junior Hallie Breidenthal (Overland Park, Kan.) and freshman Erica Lou (Flushing, N.Y.). Breidenthal won the 100 freestyle in 55.05 and the Lou touched first in the 200 individual medley in 2:22.54.

Up next, the Mariners will spend the next two weeks preparing for the very-competitive Metropolitan Championship Meet, hosted by Rutgers University Friday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19.
