KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Jan. 27 2017) – On Friday night, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy hosted the 2017 Skyline Conference Diving Championships at the O'Hara Hall Pool. The event was a non-scoring competition towards points for the 2017 Skyline Championships, but did count towards NCAA qualifying.

Two Mariner women divers earned NCAA qualifying scores. Senior Blythe Fentress (Shady Shores, Texas) won both the one-meter dive (11 dives) with a score of 455.00 and the three-meter dive (11 dives) with a 427.75. Sophomore Kara Korengel (Cincinnati, Ohio) officially qualified for the NCAAs in the one-meter dive with a score of 413.85. (Note: To officially qualify, an NCAA qualifying mark must be reached twice on the same board during the regular season).

On the men's side, senior Jordan Kendall (Winter Haven, Fla.) performed well for USMMA with a one-meter (11 dives) score of 366.10 and a three-meter dive (11 dives) first-place score of 358.00. Junior Adam Fisher (Edgerton, Wis.) won the one-meter dive by scoring 378.30.
