KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 15, 2016) – Earlier this week, the Skyline Conference announced that two USMMA women's swimmers, senior Catherine Don (Quincy, Ill.) and freshman Erica Lou (Flushing, N.Y.), were selected as the league's Swimmer and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The honors come after the duo helped lead the Mariners to four Skyline victories last week over St. Joseph's (L.I) and Old Westbury on Friday night and Sarah Lawrence and Purchase on Saturday.

Don had four first place finishes over the two meets – three individual and one as part of a relay team. She won the 200 freestyle on Friday night with a season-best time of 2:11.20 and then touched first in the 200 butterfly in 2:35.61. On Saturday, Don was victorious in the 1000 free (12:53.29) and was on the 200 free relay team that won in 1:54.14. She also placed second in the 500 free with a time of 5:58.42.

Lou won every event she swam in over the two meets and earned her first collegiate win on Friday night. She was a part of both 200 medley relay teams that touched first – 2:00.98 on Friday night and 1:55.60 on Saturday – as well as the 200 free relay team that won on Friday in 1:48.01. Individually, Lou triumphed in the 500 free (6:01.56) on Friday and the 200 individual medley (2:20.94) and the 100 fly (1:03.52) on Saturday.

Overall, this is the third week this season that the Skyline has honored a Merchant Marine swimmer – sophomore Tyler Wickesberg (Albuquerque, N.M.) was the Swimmer of the Week back on Nov. 21 and was also named to the weekly honor roll on Dec. 12.
