Fentress Earns NCAA Qualifying Diving Mark At Season-Opening USMMA Memorial Invite

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Nov. 19, 2016) – On Saturday, the Mariners' women's swimming & diving team hosted the USMMA Memorial Invitational at the O'Hara Hall Pool. Team scores were not kept at the event, which featured five other schools – Division II Adelphi and Queens and Division III Vassar, Stevens and SUNY Maritime.
 
Senior diver Blythe Fentress (Shady Shores, Texas) scored an NCAA Qualifying mark in the one-meter dive with a score of 256.70. She also placed first in the three-meter dive event with a 250.20.
 
Sophomore Tyler Wickesberg (Albuquerque, N.M.) earned three first-place finishes – two individual and one as part of the Mariners' 200 medley relay team. The medley relay squad of Wickesberg, senior Jolyn Green (Riverside, Calif.), junior Elizabeth Grove (Winchester, Va.) and sophomore Ella Sherrill (Ketchikan, Alaska) led off the meet by winning with a score of 1:56.47.
 
Wickesberg also won the 100 back in 1:00.27 and the 50 free in 24.99.

The Mariners are back in action in two weekends, when they travel to Ewing, N.J., Dec. 2-4 for the TCNJ Invite.
