Kings Point, NY – The USMMA women's swimming and diving team was defeated by Landmark Conference rival, Scranton, Saturday afternoon at O'Hara Pool. Emily Boyson (Garland, TX) led the way with victories in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. Jacqueline White (Oradell, NJ) also picked up a pair of wins for Merchant Marine by topping the field in the 200 yard butterfly as well as the 200 yard individual medley.
Lynae Harvey (Thornton, CO) captured first-place in a tightly contested 1-meter diving competition and also took first in the 3-meter event. Freshman Jesse Carter (Hempstead, MD) touched the wall first in the 100 yard butterfly, clocking in at 1:15.31 for the victory.
Senior Casey Roth (Westminster, CO) shredded her season best in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 12:44.12, which topped her previous best by 16 seconds. Alexandra Biehn (Burnsville, MN) also set a new season best time by hitting the wall in 2:06.65 in the 200 freestyle. Susanne Dannessa (Cleveland, OH) smashed her season best by 11 seconds in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:44.73.
The women's swimming and diving team returns to O'Hara Pool tomorrow for a dual meet against Marywood.
