USMMA Defeats Queens College, 134-97

Queens, NY – The Merchant Marine women's swimming and diving team knocked off Queens College Wednesday night, 134-97.  The victory came on the road in USMMA's first dual meet of the 2012-13 campaign. 

Alexandra Biehn (Burnsville, MN) got things rolling by touching the wall first in the 1000 freestyle in 12:10.63.  Biehn also paced the field in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:50.36. Maya Kerr (Marshall, MI) and Jacqueline White (Oradell, NJ) secured first-place finishes, winning the 50 freestyle and 200 IM, respectively.  White also captured the top-spot in the 100 butterfly by clocking in at 1:03 flat. 

Lynae Harvey (Thornton, CO) picked up the victory in the 1 meter diving completion by tallying 136.50 points.  Emily Boyson (Garland, TX) and Emily Olsen provided a one-two punch for USMMA in the 100 breaststroke, combining for 13 points.  The team of White, Boyson, Olsen, and Helen Deal (Hereford, AZ) also secured a first-place finish for the Mariners in the 200 yard medley relay.

The Mariners close out the first semester Saturday afternoon when they host Division I opponent Manhattan.
