USMMA Invite: 5 swimmers earn victories

KINGS POINTS, N.Y. -- Five U.S. Merchant Marine Academy swimmers won their events at the USMMA Invite on Saturday.

The winners included:

Women

* Jackie White, who won the 200-yard butterfly while breaking the school record. She also did well in the 200 backstroke and 100 butterfly.

* Emily Boyson, who won the 100-yard breaststroke, and did a lifetime best time in her 200 breaststroke.

* Kathryn Schmidt and Lynae Harvey each one a diving event.

Men

* Kevin Lindgren won the 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke

In other Mariners highlights:

* Helen Deal swam a lifetime best in the 100 freestyle.

* John Fields did an in-season lifetime best time in the 200 individual medley.

* Frank Vita swam a in-season lifetime best time in the 100 and 200 butterfly.

* The 200 medley relay of Lindgren, Fields, Vita, and Minor had an impressive swim.
