Women’s Swimming & Diving Sees 4 Mariners Named to All-Conference Squads

MADISON, N.J. – Four members of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's swimming and diving team were named to All-Landmark Conference squads this past week. Sophomore diver Kathryn Schmidt (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and freshman diver Lynae Harvey (Thornton, Colo.) were tabbed to the First Team, while freshman swimmer Emily Olsen (Glenwood, N.J.) and rookie diver Erin Hofstetter (Pittsburgh, Calif.) notched spots on the Second Team.

 

Schmidt won the 3-meter diving event at the Landmark Conference Championships with a score of 275.20, while Harvey bested all competition on the 1-meter board with a score of 270.50. In addition, Hofstetter finished in second on the 1-meter board (257.10).

 
In the 200-yard breaststroke event at the conference championships, Olsen took second place with a clocking of 2:29.45.
 

Head Coach Sean Tedesco and the Mariners return to action today when they travel to Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J. for the 2011 Metropolitan Championships (Feb. 18-20).
