Women’s Swimming & Diving in 2nd Place at End of Day 1 Champs.

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – On Friday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's swimming and diving squad amassed 110 points to take second place after Day One of the 2011 Landmark Conference Championships, which Kings Point is hosting for the fourth consecutive year.

 

On the 1-meter diving board, freshman Lynae Harvey (Thornton, Colo.) took first place with a score of 270.50, while fellow rookie Erin Hofstetter (Pittsburgh, Calif.) was second (257.10).

 

Sophomore Erika Lawson (Lebanon, Pa.) placed fifth in the 200-yard IM with a clocking of 2:18.67. In the 500-yard freestyle, freshman Kate Radzwill (Woodbury, Minn.) came in sixth place with a time of 5:28.11.

 

Head Coach Sean Tedesco and the Mariners return to action tomorrow for Day Two of the league championships. The action will get underway at 11:00 a.m. at the O'Hara Pool. The Landmark Conference website (www.landmarkconference.org) and www.usmmasports.com will have all the latest individual and team results.
