Five Mariner Wrestlers Ranked In D3Wrestle’s First National Rankings; One Makes NWCA Ranking

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Nov. 9, 2017) – came out with its first national ranking of the season early last week and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy had five wrestlers ranked nationally – junior Erik Beshada (South River, N.J.), sophomores Joshua Glantzman (Allenwood, N.J.) and Kurtis Hahn (Winfield, Mo.) and juniors Blake Bunce (Trophy Club, Texas) and Victor Raigoza (Orland, Calif.).

Additionally, Raigoza was ranked in the National Wrestling Coaches Association's (NWCA) first individual ranking of the season as well. 

Beshada had the highest ranking of the five in the D3Wrestle poll, as he came in ranked ninth in the 149-pound weight class. Glantzman and Hahn were both honorable mentions at 174 and 184, respectively, and Bunce and Raigoza both came in as contenders, with Raigoza claiming first contender (11th) at 285 and Bunce the third contender (13th) spot at 197. 

In the NWCA release, Raigoza earned the ninth ranking at heavyweight.

The Mariners open the 2017-18 campaign this Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Roger Williams Invitational up in Bristol, R.I. The first matches of the day will begin at 10 a.m. at the Hawks' Recreational Center Gymnasium.  A live video stream will be available to view the action throughout the day.
