Hoboken, NJ - The Merchant Marine wrestling team closed out the 2013-14 dual meet schedule with a 26-15 setback at Stevens on Wednesday night. Sam Fry (Sturgis, MI) and Mike Mui (Hingham, MA) both registered a pin in their bout. Josh Miller (Jackson Hole, WY) won by decision in his clash at 174 pounds.
Mui staked USMMA to a 6-0 advantage as he needed just 29 seconds to put the shoulders of the Ducks' Rob Murray to the mat. Mui is now 18-5 this season with eight wins coming by pin fall. The Ducks would go on to claim the next five bouts to build a 20-6 cushion before Miller's decision made it 20-9.
Stevens would claim the 184 pound contest by decision just prior to Fry's pin in the second period at 197 pounds. The Ducks would also take the battle at heavyweight to round out their victory, 26-15.
Merchant Marine ends the season with an 11-5 dual meet record, including a 5-3 mark against Centennial Confernece opposition. The Mariners will do battle at the Centennial Conference Championships on February 22 at Ursinus College.
