KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy dropped its first dual wrestling meet of the season, losing to Hunter College, 26-19, at Liebertz Gymnasium on Thursday night.
Four Mariners recorded victories in the meet:

"I was happy with the level that our team competed at," Mariners wrestling coach Greg Ilaria said. "We had a few wrestlers out of the lineup including a forfeit at 141 that put us in a hole early, and we were not able to overcome the deficit. We are looking forward to having a full line up soon."
In other results:
Senior Preston Graham dropped a 6-3 decision to Kenneth Albert at 125 lbs.
Freshman Tom Healy lost to Ryan Gerondal at 133 lbs., 11-2.
Sophomore Sam Fry was pinned by Luke Pragdat in 2:30 at 174 lbs.
Sophomore Tyler Russell dropped a 10-4 decision to Musa DeReese at 197 lbs.
And senior Connan Ingham lost to Leon Bodden, 8-0, at 285 lbs.
The Mariners were forced to forfeit the 141-lb. match as Hunter's Sean Messina was awarded the victory.
The Mariners will participate in the Long Island Open at Nassau Community College in Garden City, a meet that starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
