Wohner Earns ECAC Rookie Of The Year & Second Team Honors; Willard & Gizzi Selected To All-ECAC First Team

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (May 24, 2017) – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the postseason award winners and All-ECAC Teams on Thursday afternoon and three members of the USMMA women's lacrosse team were honored. Freshman Jessie Wohner (Norfolk, Va.), who was selected as the ECAC Rookie of the Year, while seniors Meredith Willard (Portland, Maine) and Hanna Gizzi (Finksburg, Md.) were chosen to the All-ECAC First Team at attack and goalie, respectively, and Wohner also landed on the Second Team at attack.

Earlier this month, Wohner was chosen by Skyline head coaches as the Conference Rookie of the Year after a breakthrough freshman campaign. She tallied a total of 86 points on the year, scoring a team and conference-best 72 goals to go along with 14 assists. 

Willard was selected as the back-to-back recipient of the Skyline Offensive Player of the Year award this season. She led the Mariners and the conference with 98 points, ranking second in the Skyline with 67 goals and third in the league with 31 assists. Willard finished her career with exactly 300 points (221 goals and 79 assists). 

Gizzi, who earlier this week was named to the IWLCA Boardwalk Region Second Team, was the Skyline Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-Conference First Team Goalie accolades for the fourth-straight season. She led the nation with a 5.60 goals against average and was sixth in the country with a .536 save percentage after boasting a 17-1 record between the pipes in 2019. Gizzi finishes her career with a 43-17 record to go along with an 8.60 GAA and a .503 save percentage.

The trio helped lead the Mariners to their second-straight Skyline Conference Championship and berth into the NCAA Tournament. The team finished the season with a program-best 17-1 record under seventh-year head coach Kyle Simensky
