KINGS POINT, N.Y. (June 29, 2016) – In early June, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its postseason honors for the 2016 women's lacrosse season and USMMA freshman Meredith Willard (Portland, Maine) was selected as the Rookie of the Year among all eligible first-year student-athletes in the Division III Metropolitan/Upstate Region.
Willard, who was crowned the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and also selected to the Second Team All-Landmark Attack back in early May, was the team leader in points (71), goals (54) and assists (17) this past 2016 season. She was tied for fourth in the Landmark in points, tied for third in goals and tied for eighth in assists. Additionally, her 5.46 points per game ranked her 14th among all NCAA Division III women's lacrosse student-athletes.
For the 2016 season, Willard set new USMMA program records for points, goals and assists not only for a single-season, but for an entire career as well. She had two nine-point games, one eight-goal game and a five-assist game throughout the year, which were all single-game program records. Her name is in the program record book a program-best 17 times for her performance this year.
