TOWSON, Md. (April 4, 2016) – For the second time this season, USMMA freshman goalie Hannah Gizzi (Finksburg, Md.) was named the Landmark Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the week, the league announced on Monday. The honor comes after the rookie's performance in the Mariners' lone game of the week last week – a tough 17-16 home loss to Landmark foe Elizabethtown on Saturday.
Gizzi set a new program record for saves in a game, as she made 22 stops against the Blue Jays' 39 shots on goal. She also dished out an assist on classmate Meredith Willard's (Portland, Maine) third goal of the game at 13:54 of the first half. Earlier this year, Gizzi tied the program record for wins in a career after earning the victories between the pipes in the Mariners' season-opening wins over Purchase and Maine Maritime.

Gizzi and the rest of the Mariners are back at it this Friday night, April 8, when they take on future Skyline Conference opponent Sage. Opening draw is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Brooks Stadium. Live stats and a live video feed of the game are available by following those links.
