USMMA Freshman Kelly Allison Finishes Sixth in the NCAA in Saves Per Game

Complete NCAA Saves Per Game Rankings

Following Merchant Marine's inaugural season of women's lacrosse freshman, goaltender Kelly Allison (Palos Verdes, CA) ranked sixth in NCAA Division III in saves per game.  Allison stopped an average of 13.00 shots per game and was named the team's Defensive MVP by Head Coach Kyle Simensky.

"Kelly was a huge help to our defense and our team over the course of the season," said Simensky.  "She is extremely coachable and improved each and every time she took the field. Her fearlessness along with her quick reflexes and tremendous hand-eye coordination allowed her to make some unbelievable saves throughout the year."

Allison recorded a season high 18 saves in the Mariners' season finale against St. Joseph (CT) and turned away 15 shots in five different games.  Merchant Marine showed steady improvement throughout the 2013 campaign and in its final period of the regular season outscored an opponent in a half for the first time in program history.

Merchant Marine will officially compete as part of the Landmark Conference in 2014 as the women's lacrosse program continues to grow in Kings Point.
