Merchant Marine Posts Season High Eight Goals in Loss at Maritime (NY)
Throggs Neck, NY – Jessica Willey and Kristen Bell (New City, NY) both registered four goals as the Mariners had their highest offensive output in the program's young history in a 23-8 loss Thursday night at Maritime (NY). Freshman goaltender Kelly Allison (Palos Verdes, CA) racked up 15 saves as well as a team high five ground balls.
Maritime (NY) (1-2) tallied seven straight goals between the first and second halves en route to building a 19-6 advantage. Leanne Lavelle paced the Privateers attack with seven points on six goals and one assists, of Leanne Lavelle. Maritime (NY) net minder Meghin Parczkowski tallied nine assists on 17 total shots on goal.
Merchant Marine (0-3) created turnovers on the defensive end as the two teams both made 14 miscues. Lauren Seabode (Trappe, MD) picked up her first collegiate point with an assist on USMMA's second goal. The Mariners posted a pair of free position goals, one from both Willey and Bell.
The USMMA women's lacrosse team returns to action Saturday afternoon on the road against Muhlenberg.
