Women's Lacrosse Drops Home Opener to Mount Saint Vincent

Kings Point, NY - Freshman goaltender Kelly Allison (Palos Verdes, CA) made 13 saves but the USMMA women's lacrosse team was still upended by visiting Mount Sain Vincent, 14-4, Tuesday night in the first home game in program history.  Alexandra Winfree (Millstone, NJ) led the Mariners' scoring with one goal and two assists in her stat line.  Amelia Lafiguera (Ogden, UT), Caitlin McCabe (Edgewood, NM), and Kristen Bell (New City, NY) all registered a goal for the home side.

Mount Saint Vincent (2-2) was paced by the three goals and two assists of Nicole Flores while Kelly Fraser also tallied two goals and two assists.  The Dolphins outshot the Mariners 33-13 while also winning the turnover battle, 31-20.

Merchant Marine (0-2) forced Dolphins' miscues throughout the game as Figuera totaled a team high three caused turnovers.  Riley Huelbig (Poolesville, MD) recorded three ground balls and Bell brought down a trio of draw controls.

The USMMA women's lacrosse team returns to action on Thursday as the cross the Throggs Neck Bridge to take on Maritime (NY).  Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
