    The USMMA women’s basketball team sailed past visiting Skyline opponent St. Joseph’s of Long Island, 64-39, on Tuesday evening at the Liebertz Gymnasium. With the win, the Mariners have now set a new program record for victories in a season, as they improve to 16-7 (12-5 Skyline), while the Golden Eagles fall to 8-15 (5-11 Skyline).

    The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women’s basketball team lost its Skyline Conference road matchup up at Mount St. Mary, 58-46, on Saturday afternoon at the Knights’ Kaplan Center Gymnasium. In defeat, the Mariners fall to 15-7 (11-5 Skyline), while first-place MSMC improves to 18-5 (15-1 Skyline).

    The USMMA women’s basketball team defeated visiting Sarah Lawrence College, 88-23, on Wednesday night in Skyline Conference action at the Liebertz Gymnasium. The victory ties the program record for wins in a season, as the Mariners improve to 15-6 overall (11-4 Skyline), while the Gryphons fall to 1-18 (0-14 Skyline) in defeat. 
  • D’Arcy Selected To Skyline Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

    On Monday evening, the Skyline Conference announced that U.S. Merchant Marine Academy sophomore Kaleigh D’Arcy (White Plains, N.Y.) earned a spot on its weekly honor roll for women’s basketball for the week ending Feb. 4. This is the third time this season that D’Arcy has been recognized by the conference, having been selected as the Player of the Week once (Jan. 22) and to the weekly honor roll two other times (Nov. 27 and Jan. 8).

    The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women’s basketball team dropped a home Skyline Conference contest to Mount St. Vincent, 71-61, at the Liebertz Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Mariners fall to 14-6 (10-4 Skyline), while the Dolphins improve to 9-9 (7-7 Skyline) with the victory.

    The USMMA women’s basketball team downed visiting Skyline Conference opponent Yeshiva University, 61-30, on Tuesday night the Liebertz Gymnasium. In victory, the Mariners move to 14-5 on the season (10-3 Skyline), while the Maccabees fall to 4-13 (2-9 Skyline) with the loss.

    Senior Tichina Carmon (Greenville, N.C.) was selected to the Skyline Conference women’s basketball weekly honor roll, the league announced on Monday. This is the third time that Carmon has been recognized by the Skyline, as she was the Player of the Week on Jan. 15 and landed on the weekly honor roll back on Dec. 4.

This is the third time this season that the Skyline has honored D’Arcy, as she was selected to the weekly honor roll back on both Nov. 27 and Jan. 8.

    Senior Tichina Carmon (Greenville, N.C.) was named the Skyline Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday and then earned two more honors on Tuesday – Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) DIII Metro Player of the Week and Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) DII-DIII Honorable Mention. The accolades come after her performances in the Mariners’ three Skyline victories last week – on the road over Sarah Lawrence, 79-44, on Monday and St. Joseph’s-L.I., 85-54, on Wednesday and at home over Farmingdale State, 65-62, this past Saturday.

    Senior Tichina Carmon’s (Greenville, N.C.) third consecutive double-double (26 points, 10 rebounds) led the USMMA women’s basketball team to a statement win over Farmingdale State, 65-62, on Saturday at the Liebertz Gym. The Mariners move to 11-3 overall and 7-2 in Skyline play and leapfrog the Rams for third place in the standings. Farmingdale State fell to 8-8 overall and 7-2 in Skyline action and had its three-game winning streak snapped.

    The Skyline Conference announced on Tuesday evening that USMMA sophomore Taylor Hightower (White Plains, Md.) was selected as the league’s Player of the “Week” for her performance in the Mariners’ non-conference win over New Rochelle back on Monday, Dec. 18. This is the second Skyline weekly honor for Hightower this season, as she was also named to the weekly honor roll back on Dec. 18.

Additionally, sophomore Taylor Hightower (White Plains, Md.) was chosen to the Skyline women’s basketball weekly honor roll.

    On Monday afternoon, the USMMA women’s basketball team traveled up to Westchester County to face the College of New Rochelle in non-conference action at the Monroe College Athletic Complex. The Mariners defeated the Blue Angels by the final score of 74-40, to improve to 8-2 on the season, while CNR falls to 3-9 after suffering the loss.

The Mariners improve to 5-2 (3-1 Skyline) with the win, while YU falls to 2-9 (1-6 Skyline).
