Carmon Selected To Skyline Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 5, 2017) – On Monday, the Skyline Conference announced its weekly honors for women's basketball and USMMA senior Tichina Carmon (Greenville, N.C.) earned a spot on the league's weekly honor roll. This comes after her performances in the Mariners' three victories last week – a 75-48 home win over Purchase on Tuesday, a 61-59 road victory at St. Joseph's of Brooklyn on Thursday and a 70-49 home win over Berkeley on Saturday.

Carmon averaged a double-double over the three contests with 16.3 points per game and 11.3 rebounds per game – both marks ranked second on the team over the week. In Thursday night's road win over the Bears in Brooklyn, the senior led all players with 18 points, including 12 in the first half.

Carmon currently ranks fourth in the Skyline in rebounds with 11.0 per game and her 37.7-percent shooting is good for 10th in the conference.

All five of Merchant Marine's starters as well as one bench player are ranked in the top-10 in the league in multiple categories. Sophomore Kaleigh D'Arcy (White Plains, N.Y.) is the Skyline's leading sharpshooter with a .560 field goal percentage, while her 18.3 points per game are good for fifth and her 1.5 three-pointers per game rank eighth; classmate Shelby Peters (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) is tied with Carmon for fourth in the Skyline with 11.0 rebounds per game and is also the conference leader with 2.0 blocks per game; senior Gabrielle Salazar (Memphis, Tenn.) is fourth in the league with 4.3 assists per game and a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio; freshman Kiana Vega (El Paso, Texas) ranks sixth in the Skyline with 3.0 steals per game and is tied for seventh with a 1.0 assist-to-turnover ratio; and sophomore Taylor Hightower (White Plains, Md.) ranks tied for fifth in the conference with 1.0 blocks per game and eighth with 9.0 rebounds per game.
