NEW YORK (Dec. 12, 2016) – For the second straight week, USMMA women's basketball freshman Kaleigh D'Arcy (White Plains, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. The honor comes after her performances in the Mariners' three victories last week.
D'Arcy did a little bit of everything last week, as she led the team by averaging 14.0 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game to go along with a team-high 10 assists, eight steals and two blocks in the three contests. D'Arcy currently leads the Skyline Conference by shooting 47.3-percent from the field (35-for-74), while also ranking seventh in the Skyline Conference with 13.4 points per game.
She nearly recorded a triple-double in the Mariners' victory over Medgar Evers on Thursday with 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and then followed that up with a game-high 19-point performance to lead Merchant Marine to a 51-50 road win over Old Westbury on Saturday.
As a team, USMMA ranks second in the league in allowing just 49.1 points per game to their opponents, while the Mariners' scoring margin of +9.3 points per game is good for third in the league. The team is also ranked second in the Skyline both rebounding (offense) with 49.1 rebounds per game and rebounding (defense) allowing 35.0 boards per game. The squad's rebounding margin of +14.1 rebounds per game is the best in the conference.
