Four Mariners Score In Double-Figures In 81-32 Home Win Over Berkeley In Season-Opener

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Nov. 20, 2016) – The USMMA women's basketball team opened the 2016-17 season on Sunday afternoon at home against the Knights of Berkeley College. Four Mariners recorded double-digit scoring efforts in an 81-32 victory at the Liebertz Gymnasium.
 
Freshman Kaleigh D'Arcy (White Plains, N.Y.) led Merchant Marine with 13 points, while senior Jordy Macbeth (Orlando, Fla.) had a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in her first career game. Senior Rachel Whelburg (Herndon, Va.) also added 12 points, while freshman Shelby Peters (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) contributed 10 points to the win.

The Mariners return to action on Tuesday evening, when they travel to Manhattan to take on Hunter College in a non-conference doubleheader with the men's squad.
