KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Jan. 18, 2016) – On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) announced its weekly honors for Division II & III and USMMA sophomore Tichina Carmon (Greenville, N.C.) was named as an honorable mention for her performances in the Mariners' three games last week.
Carmon averaged a double-double with 17.0 points per game and 11.3 rebounds per game, as the Mariners went 1-2 overall last week. On Tuesday in a home loss to CCNY, she led USMMA with 14 points and nine boards. She followed that up with a career night on Thursday at St. Joseph's of Long Island in a tough overtime defeat, matching her personal best with 18 points and also bringing down a new career high 18 rebounds. In the Mariners' home Landmark victory on Saturday over Juniata (their first conference win of the season), she led all players with a new personal-best 19 points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds and a game-high five steals.

Carmon and the rest of the Mariners return to action this Thursday, Jan. 21, when they square off against rival Coast Guard. Action is slated to get underway 6 p.m. at the Liebertz Gymnasium. Live stats and a live video feed of the game will be available by clicking those links.
