USMMA Doubled Up at Juniata, 80-40

Huntingdon, PA - Rachel Wehlburg (Herndon, VA) at nine points and nine rebounds off the bench but the USMMA women's basketball suffered an 80-40 setback at Juniata Saturday evening in a Landmark Conference clash.  Demi VanDerWal (Springfield, IL) led the Mariners with 17 points but the visitors committed 25 turnovers in the loss.  Paige Dennison tallied a game high 22 points for the Eagles while Kate McDonald dished out 11 assists to go along with six points and nine reobunds.

Merchant Marine (4-18, 0-12 Landmark) shot 30.9 percent (17-of-55) from the field but made just 2-of-11 from three-point range.  USMMA did record nine steals in the contest, including three from VanDerWal.  Freshman point guard Kelsey Hofmann (Adel, IA) added eight ponts on 4-of-9 shooting and committed just two turovers.

Juniata (12-11, 5-7 Landmark) celebrated its senior day before the contest and held a 42-16 cushion heading into the halftime intermission.  Kelsey Livoti and Jordan Hileman both cracked double figures with 16 and 12 points, respectively.  

The USMMA women's basketball team plays again Wednesday night at home against Drew.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
