Madison, NJ - The USMMA women's basketball team lost a 47-32 decision at Drew Wednesday night in Landmark Conference action. Demi VanDerWal (Springfield, IL) led the Mariners with 13 points and eight rebounds while freshman Kelsey Hofmann (Adel, IA) had 10 points. The Rangers secured 52 total rebounds, including 18 offensive boards.
Merchant Marine (4-12, 0-8 Landmark) struggled from the floor, shooting just 22.6 percent. The Rangers only made 32.1 percent (18-56) of their attempts but forced 14 turnovers and rejected seven shots. USMMA was 6-of-9 (66.7%) at the free throw line and had three blocks, including two from Rebecca Resor (Bay St. Louis, MS). Resor finished the game with three points and six rebounds for the Mariners.
Drew (11-7, 4-3 Landmark) had 15 assists on 18 total field goals, including six helpers from Breana Wilson. Hannah Miller and Courtney Stephens both grabbed 11 rebounds for the home team. The Rangers limitied Merchant Marine to 11 points in the second half en route to the 47-32 verdict.
