Setting the Scene...
The USMMA women's basketball team returns to conference action Saturday, closing out a double header against Juniata.  The Mariners are coming off of back-to-back wins for the first time this season after downing NYU Poly, 73-49, on Wednesday night.  The Eagles have lost three of their last four but most recently routed Goucher, 82-46, in Huntingdon, PA.

Series History...
Juniata holds an 11-1 edge in the all-time series between the two programs.  Merchant Marine defeated the Eagles for the first time in program history last season inside O'Hara Hall.  The Mariners earned a 73-70 upset victory on Senior Day.

Hitting Their Stride...
Merchant Marine has had three freshmen provide strong outings in back-to-back wins.  Julie Mall (Littlestown, PA) averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game in the victories as well as leading the team in minutes played.  Point guard Kelsey Hofmann (Adel, IA) has dished out 15 assists, including a career high nine helpers versus NYU Poly.  Rachel Wehlburg (Herndon, VA) has notched two straight games with double digit rebounds off the bench.

VanDerWal For Three... 
Junior Demi VanDerWal (Springfield, IL) has posted five consecutive games with at least one three-point basket.  VanDerWal struck for four trifectas last time out against the Blue Jays.  She ranks fifth in the Landmark Conference, connecting on 1.7 treys per game.

Rebounding Advantage... 
Merchant Marine leads the Landmark Conference in rebounding with 50.0 boards per game.  The Mariners dominated the glass against the Blue Jays and finished with a 55-39 edge.  USMMA also ranks in the NCAA Division III top-15 with a margin of +11.9 rebounds per game.

Landmark Conference Notebook...
Scranton and Catholic are the two remaining unbeaten teams in the Landmark Conference standings.   The Royals are 14-2 overall and riding a 12-game winning streak.  The Cardinals have won ten straight games and are 5-0 in league play.

Scouting the Eagles...
The Eagles have three players averaging double figures this season and are led by the 17.5 points per game of Kate McDonald.  McDonald also leads the Landmark Conference with 11.1 rebounds per game.
