Game Notes - PDF

Setting the Scene... The United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (7-8, 1-6) will take on the Rangers of Drew University (6-11, 2-4) Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM in Kings Point, NY.  Drew enters the contest fresh off of a 59-42 victory over Landmark Conference opponent Goucher, while USMMA comes into the matchup after dropping a Saturday afternoon contest at Juniata.

Series History... Merchant Marine is 2-10 all-time against the Rangers, last beating them by a score of 66-61 during the 2008-09 season.

Scouting the Rangers... Drew has a pair of players averaging double-figures on the season with freshman forward Courtney Stephens and senior guard Jennifer Mateo scoring 10.8 and 10.1 points per game respectively.  Stephens also leads the Rangers in rebounds per game with 8.3.

Piling on the Points...
Senior captain Tamara Kaileh currently leads the Mariners in scoring averaging 12.8 points per game.  Her 14 points against Juniata moved Kaileh into seventh place on USMMA's all-time scoring list with 774 points for her career.

Stealing the Show... Senior captain Roshenda Josephs currently leads the Landmark Conference in steals per game, averaging 3.9 on the season.  Her steals per game average of 4.0 last week, ranked Josephs 12th on the NCAA leaderboards.  She currently sits second on Merchant Marine's all-time career steals list (208) and is on pace to break USMMA's single seasons steals record of 91.

Resor Sharp...
Sophomore forward Rebecca Resor has been actively crashing the boards this season, leading Merchant Marine with 9.3 rebounds per game; good enough to rank fourth in the Landmark Conference.
