USMMA Ready to Host York Monday at 7:00 PM

Setting the Scene... The United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (6-6) will take on the Cardinals of York College (0-13) Monday night at 7:00 PM in Kings Point, NY.  York comes into the contest seeking their first victory of the season.  Merchant Marine is looking to get back into the win column as they are in the midst of a two-game losing streak; USMMA is also looking to avoid falling below .500 for the first time this season.

Series History... USMMA is 7-2 all-time against York, winning last season's matchup by a score of 66-54.  The Mariners last lost to the Cardinals during the 2009-10 campaign by a score of 55-48.

Scouting the Cardinals... Senior guard Ishonda McFarland leads the team in scoring averaging 14.6 points per game.  Sophomore center Stayce Kay Muirhead leads the team in rebounding with 9.5.

Senior Scorers... Senior captains Tamara Kaileh (13.3 PPG) and Roshenda Josephs (10.1 PPG) have been the most consistent scoring threats for the Mariners, tallying 10 points or more in a combined 16 games.  Kaileh is coming off of her first double-double and second 20+ scoring performance of the season.  Josephs also leads the Landmark Conference in steals per game, averaging 3.9 on the season.   
 
Creating Chances... Merchant Marine is 6-0 this season when forcing 20 or more turnovers in a game and 5-0 when they turn the ball over less than their opposition. 

Getting into the 60's... USMMA is 4-1 when they score over 60 points and 2-5 when they fail to reach the 60 point plateau.  

Holding the Lead...
The Mariners are 5-0 when holding a lead with five minutes remaining in the second half and 1-6 when trailing with five minutes left to play.
