• Four Midshipmen Named To Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams

    Both the NEWMAC Football Conference and the Skyline Conference announced the Fall 2017 All-Sportsmanship Teams recently and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy had a total of four Midshipmen-Athletes named to their respective teams – one for each fall sport.
  • Cross Country Results Available From ECAC Championships

    On Saturday, the USMMA men’s & women’s cross country teams competed in the 2017 ECAC Championship Meet, hosted by Mount St. Mary College at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome up in Ulster County. The Mariner men, who had five runners, placed seventh out of the 12 teams that scored, while the women had two runners compete.

    The USMMA men’s cross country team competed in the 2017 Skyline Conference Championship Meet on Wednesday, hosted by Purchase College up in Westchester County. The event was rescheduled from this past Sunday due to inclement weather, and the Mariners’ roster was affected by the date change, as just seven runners competed in the 8K race.
  • Today’s Skyline Cross Country Championship Meet Postponed To Nov. 1

    The Skyline Conference decided late Saturday night to postpone the Cross Country Championship Meet, which was to be held this morning, Sunday, Oct. 29, due to the severe inclement weather that is anticipated to hit the New York Metropolitan Area all day.

    On Wednesday, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its men’s cross country weekly award winners and, a day after earning the same two awards from the Skyline Conference, Merchant Marine senior Austin MacElrevey (Lewes, Del.) was honored as the DIII Metro Runner of the Week and freshman Patrick Porch (Halstead, Kan.) was selected as the DIII Metro Rookie of the Week.
  • Mariners Sweep Skyline Men’s Cross Country Weekly Awards

    USMMA senior Austin MacElrevey (Lewes, Del.) and freshman Patrick Porch (Halstead, Kan.) swept the Skyline Conference men’s cross country weekly awards this week, as MacElrevey was named the Runner of the Week and Porch garnered Rookie of the Week honors. The accolades come after the pair’s performance at the Cougar Chase this past Sunday at Caldwell University, where they helped lead the Mariners to their second-straight first-place finish and third of the season.

    The Skyline Conference announced earlier this week that USMMA senior Austin MacElrevey (Lewes, Del.) of the men’s cross country team and sophomore Anna Lewis (Lakehead, Calif.) of women’s cross country have been named to their respective sports’ weekly honor rolls. The honors come after their performances at the Goucher Classic this past Saturday down in Towson, Md.

    On Saturday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men’s cross country team sent six freshmen runners to compete at the Bard Raptors Invitational on the campus of Bard College. The Mariners came in seventh place out of the field of 20 teams with a total of 183 points.

    U.S. Merchant Marine Academy senior Austin MacElrevey’s (Lewes, Del.) first-place finish this past Sunday at the Queensborough Invitational has earned him multiple Runner of the Week accolades, as the Skyline Conference announced he was its honoree on Monday and then today the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tabbed him as its DIII Metro Runner of the Week. This is the second-straight week that the senior co-captain was honored by the Skyline, as he was named to the weekly honor roll last week.
  • Mariner Men Win Queensborough Invite; MacElrevey Is Individual Champion Again

    The USMMA men’s cross country team came in first place at the Queensborough Invitational on Sunday morning at Van Cortlandt Park and senior Austin MacElrevey (Lewes, Del.) won his second straight race to lead the Mariners. The squad scored 84 points, a full 64 points ahead of second place Monroe College (148). Suffolk Community College came in third with 152 points and Merchant Marine's fellow Skyline Conference opponent SUNY Maritime was the second place DIII team, as they placed fourth overall with 202 points.
  • MacElrevey’s Individual Win Earns Him A Skyline Weekly Honor Roll Nod

    USMMA senior co-captain Austin MacElrevey (Lewes, Del.) was selected to the Skyline Conference weekly honor roll for men’s cross country, the league announced on Monday. The honor comes after MaElrevey helped lead the Mariners to a third-place showing at the Trinity College Invitational this past Saturday up in Connecticut.
  • Mariner Men Come In Fifth At Baruch Invitational On Sunday

    On Sunday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men’s cross country team sent seven men up to Van Cortlandt Park to compete in the Baruch College Invitational. The Mariners came in fifth place out of eight teams that competed with 92 points. The City College of New York won the event with 51 points and Baruch (second with 65 points) and Yeshiva (third with 67 points) rounded out the top three.
  • MacElrevey Wins 5K Race As Mariners Finish Third At Trinity Invite

    The USMMA men’s cross country team opened the 2017 season on Saturday at the Trinity College Invite at Wickham Park in Connecticut, not far from the Trinity campus. The Mariner men finished in third place at the event with 98 points, just behind arch-rival Coast Guard, which came in second with 50 points, and hosts Trinity, which won the Invite with 25 points.

    The Skyline Conference released the preseason coaches polls for men’s and women’s cross country this past Tuesday and the USMMA men were picked to repeat as conference champions, while the women came in at fourth place – which was their finish at the 2016 championship meet.

    The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy held its 2017 Awards Convocation on Friday morning at the Ackerman Auditorium as part of Graduation Weekend festivities. Four major athletic award winners were announced during the ceremony – the Male and Female Athletes of the Year as well as the two Coaches of the Year – along with a number of other athletic awards and honors.

    The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men’s cross country team wrapped up the successful 2016 season on Saturday at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Meet, hosted by Rowan University. The Mariners came in 27th place out of the 44 teams that competed at the event, and finished ahead of all of the Skyline Conference opponents that raced as well.

    On Saturday, the USMMA men’s cross country team captured second place in the highly-competitive ECAC Championship Meet, held at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome up in Ulster County. The Mariners’ top five finishers recorded 62 points for the team, which was behind only NYU’s 35 points.

    The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men’s cross country team won the 2016 Skyline Conference Championship Meet on Saturday! Head coach David Lawrence Jr.’s squad came in first place with a total of 39 points, which was the fewest out of the 10-team field. Hosts St. Joseph’s of Long Island came in second place with a team score of 68 points in the event, which was held at the Broadway Avenue Park out in Suffolk County.

    The Skyline Conference announced on Tuesday that USMMA sophomore Connor Cole (Alpharetta, Ga.) was selected as the conference’s Runner of the Week for men’s cross country. The honor comes after Cole helped lead the Mariners to a seventh place finish at the James Earley Invitational, which included a team victory over arch-rival Coast Guard this past weekend.

    The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men’s cross country team placed fourth in the Bard Raptors Invitational up in Dutchess County on Saturday out of a field of 20 teams. The Mariners totaled 110 points and were just two points behind fellow Skyline Conference rival Mount St. Mary who came in second place. Skyline powerhouse St. Joseph’s (L.I.) won the meet with 84 points.

    The Landmark Conference has named 51 student-athletes to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team. For women’s cross country, USMMA freshman Connor Cole (Alpharetta, Ga.) was selected to the team.
