Skyline Releases Cross Country Preseason Coaches Polls; Lawrence Jr. Unveils Mariners’ 2017 Schedule

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 1, 2017) – The Skyline Conference released the preseason coaches polls for men's and women's cross country this past Tuesday and the USMMA men were picked to repeat as conference champions, while the women came in at fourth place – which was their finish at the 2016 championship meet.

Head Coach David Lawrence Jr. also unveiled the schedule for the upcoming 2017 season this week. The slate features eight meets over two and a half months. 

Action gets underway next Saturday, Sept. 9, when the Mariners travel to Manchester, Conn., to compete in the Trinity Invitational. At the meet, the Mariners go head-to-head against arch-rival Coast Guard for the school year's first two points towards the 2017-18 Superintendents' Trophy. The following day, Sunday, Sept. 10, USMMA runs at the Baruch Invite at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. 

The Mariners are right back up at VCP a week later for the Queensborough Community College Invite on Sunday, Sept. 17. September closes with the Bard Raptors Invitational up in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., on Saturday, Sept. 23. 

Merchant Marine visits former Landmark Conference opponent Goucher College in Towson, Md., for the Goucher Classic on Saturday, Oct. 7, before the last meet of the "regular season" on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Cougar Chase, hosted by Caldwell University in Caldwell, N.J. 

The Skyline Conference Championship Meet is scheduled for Sun., Oct. 29, up at Purchase College. The 2017 season concludes at the ECAC Championship Meet on Saturday, Nov. 4, hosted by Mount St. Mary at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y.
