Cole Leads Mariners At Season-Ending NCAA Atlantic Regional Meet Saturday

GLASSBORO, N.J. (Nov. 12, 2016) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's cross country team wrapped up the successful 2016 season on Saturday at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Meet, hosted by Rowan University. The Mariners came in 27th place out of the 44 teams that competed at the event, and finished ahead of all of the Skyline Conference opponents that raced as well.
 
Sophomore Connor Cole (Alpharetta, Ga.) was USMMA's top finisher on the day, coming in at 131st place with a time of 26:41.9 in the 8K race. Senior Daniel Wolfer (Hebron, Ky.) was not far behind, crossing in 135th place in 26:46.4.
 
Two more Mariners finished close together a little later in the race, as senior Cameron Green (Lancaster, Calif.) came in 163rd place in 27:15.8, while freshman Michael Dobkowski (Merrick, N.Y.) took 169th place with a time of 27:20.9. Finally, senior Conor McWeeney (Lake Oswego, Ore.) rounded out the Merchant Marine runners on the day with a 214th place finish in 28:28.6.
