Baxter and McGowan Named Second Team All-Conference

Senior Daniel Baxter (left) and sophomore David McGowan (right) both earned second team All-Conference honors for their outstanding performance at the Landmark Conference Championships.

Landmark awards All-Conference distinctions to the top 14 finishers at the Conference Championship meet.  With a time of 27:17 on the 8K course, Baxter placed eighth, one spot shy of qualifying for first team honors.  McGowan came in 12th with a time of 27:38 propelling USMMA to third place; their best conference finish in program history.

"It's great to have such upper classmen leadership," commented Head Coach Greg Lott.  "Both of these gentlemen have put in the miles and a lot of work throughout the year and I'm happy they're being ecognized for their consistant efforts."

2012 marked the first time in several years that a member of the men's cross country team has earned an All-Conference distinction, and the first time two have done it in the same year since USMMA joined the Landmark Conference.
