Complete Results

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 3, 2019) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's and women's track & field teams hosted arch-rival Coast Guard on a sunny and windy Wednesday afternoon at Brooks Stadium. Both teams lost their head-to-head matchup with the Bears, but they had numerous ECAC qualifiers between the men and women.

Three Mariners qualified on the men's side – junior Garrett Hargis (Chandler, Ariz.) in the hammer, Michael Delesdernier (Metairie, La.) in the javelin and freshman David Cozad (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) in the 400 meter hurdles. They join seniors David Collins (North Kingstown, R.I.) (hammer) and Jesse Byorth (Billings, Mont.) (javelin) and sophomore Ivan Goretoy (West Warwick, R.I.) (hammer), who qualified after the Ursinus Invite earlier this season.

On the women's side, there were four qualifiers – junior Alexa Vandermeer (Grove Heights, Minn.) in the women's 400 meter run, classmate Kaleigh D'Arcy (White Plains, N.Y.) in the 100 meter hurdles (after she already qualified in the high jump earlier this year), fellow junior Ally McFadyen (Saint James, N.Y.) in the shot put (after she already qualified in the hammer and discus earlier this year) and freshman Lauren Hunter (Tinley Park, Ill.) in the discus.

Throughout the entire meet, the Mariners won four events – Vandermeer in the women's 400 meter (1:01.35), freshman Tyler Pittman (Albuquerque, N.M.) in the men's 800 meter (2:01.66), Cozad in the men's 400 meter hurdles (1:02.75) and D'Arcy in the women's high jump (1.43m).
