Pair Of Second-Place Finishes Highlight Mariners’ Day At Yale’s Giegengack Invite

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Feb. 9, 2019) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's track & field team competed in the 13th Annual Giegengack Invitational, hosted by Yale in the Historic Coxe Cage. There were no team scores at the event, and the Mariners' day was highlighted by a pair of second-place finishes. 

The distance medley relay team of freshman Nicholas Arima (Honolulu, Hawaii), senior Jesse Reinebold (Sagamihara, Japan), classmate James Gunderson (Bloomington, Minn.) and freshman Lucas Jordan (Littleton, Colo.) crossed the finish line in second with a time of 11:11.28. 

Additionally, Jordan placed second in the 5000 meter run in 16:44.14.

Up next, the Mariners will compete in the Princeton Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 16, down in New Jersey at the Tigers' Jadwin Gymnasium.
