USMMA Men Only Results
HAVERFORD, Pa. (Feb. 18, 2017) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's track & field team competed in Haverford College's Keogh Invitational on Saturday and the Mariners had nine top-10 finishes at the event.
The 4x400 meter relay team of freshmen Rob Beardsley (Bettendorf, Iowa) and Isaiah Rodriguez (Fairfield, N.J.) along with senior Cameron Green (Lancaster, Calif.) and junior Matthew Pari (Marlboro, N.J.) had a team-high second place finish with a time of 3:37.42.
Individually, Rodriguez placed third in the 200 meter run in 23.74 and sixth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.47. In the long jump event, the rookie came in third place with a jump of 5.95 meters (19' 6.25").
Junior Billy Pelger (Rocky River, Ohio) finished the shot put event in fifth place after his toss of 11.50 meters (37' 8.75"). Freshman Garrett Hargis (Chandler, Ariz.) and sophomore David Collins (North Kingstown, R.I.) were right behind in sixth and seventh place with throws of 11.36m (37' 3.25") and 10.77m (35' 4"), respectively.
Junior Seung Hwang (Wayne, N.J.) came in sixth place in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.26 and Beardsley rounded out the top-10 finishes with a ninth place showing in the 200 meters in 25.37.
Saturday's meet concludes the Mariners' indoor season. The squad will be back in action in late March for the beginning of the 2017 outdoor season.
