WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (March 26, 2016) – The USMMA men's track & field team opened the outdoor season at the 21st Annual Monmouth Season Opener on Saturday. The Mariners recorded four top 10 finishes at the primarily Division I event.
Senior Kenneth Pressey (Yorktown, Va.) had the Mariners' top finish of the event, coming fifth place in the high jump, as he cleared 1.83 meters (six-feet even). Freshman Connor Cole (Alpharetta, Ga.) came in sixth place in the men's 10K run with a time of 33:19.79.
Senior Michael Dittmer (Clifton Park, N.Y.) placed eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:16.65 and classmate Tomas Sanchez (Manati, P.R.) finished ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:59.81.
Freshman hurdler Luke Theriault (Southbury, Conn.) came in 18th place in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.63 and senior Nathan Robbins (Los Alamos, N.M.) led the Mariner throwers with a pair of 17th place finishes in both the shot put (10.54 meters – 34' 5.75") and the discus (34.08 meters – 111' 10").
The Mariners return to action next Saturday, April 2, when they travel to New London, Conn., to take part in the CGA Spring Invitational hosted by Coast Guard.
