Sanchez And Neumann Earn Second Team All-Landmark Accolades

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (March 3, 2016) – Earlier this week, the Landmark Conference announced the postseason awards for men's and women's track & field and USMMA had two representatives from the men's squad earn spots on the Second Team All-Landmark – senior Tomas Sanchez (Manati, P.R.) and sophomore Blase Neumann (Spokane, Wash.).

The Second Team accolades were based off of both Sanchez's and Neumann's second-place finishes in their respective events at the 2016 Landmark Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet, held this past Saturday, Feb. 27, at Susquehanna University.

Sanchez earned the silver medal in the 400-meter run by coming in as the runner up in the event with a time of 50.89. He was just behind the Landmark Champion, Michael Twist of Elizabethtown, by just 46-hundreths of a seconds (50.43).

Neumann placed second in the pole vault event after clearing a height of 4.10 meters (13ft 5.25in). He score was tied for the runner-up spot with Susquehanna's Jack DeLuca, so both Neumann and DeLuca earn the Second Team All-Landmark Accolades. They both finished behind conference champion Ryan Karnopp of Moravian, who cleared 4.25 meters (13ft 11.25in).

The Mariners continue the season this Saturday, March 5, when head coach David Lawrence Jr. will take senior Kenneth Pressey (Yorktown, Va.) to nearby Staten Island to take part in the 2016 ECAC Division III Indoor Championship Meet. Pressey earned an ECAC qualifying mark (and also set a new Academy record) in the high jump event back in the second meet of the indoor season, FDU's Knight's Classic, when he cleared a height of 2.03 meters (6ft 8in). Pressey is set to jump on Saturday, the second day of the two-day event, at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Athletic Complex.
