HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (Feb. 12, 2016) – The USMMA men's track & field team competed in the Lions Invitational, hosted by Molloy College on Friday night at St. Anthony's High School. A total of 16 Mariners saw action tonight and no team scores were kept at the event.
Sophomore Blase Neumann (Spokane, Wash.) had Merchant Marine's top finish of the night, coming in second place in the pole vault event after clearing a height of 4.12 meters (13' 6.25"). Senior Kenneth Pressey (Yorktown, Va.) had the Mariners' other top-10 individual finish, as he came in sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.90 meters (6' 2.75").
USMMA's 4x200 meter relay squad of seniors Tomas Sanchez (Manati, P.R.), Alex Waterbury (Dallas, Texas) and Daniel Kennedy (Youngstown, Ohio), with freshman Severin Blenkush (O'Fallon, Ill.) anchoring, came in fourth place out of the nine teams that competed with a time of 1:35.76. The 4x800 meter relay of senior Michael Dittmer (Clifton Park, N.Y.) with freshmen John Robertson (Pfafftown, N.C.), Connor Cole (Alpharetta, Ga.) and James Gunderson (Bloomington, Minn.) also came in fourth in 9:02.63. And the 4x400 relay squad of Blenkush, Sanchez, sophomore Matthew Pari (Marlboro, N.J.) and Kennedy came in fifth out of 10 teams with a time of 3:33.95.

Merchant Marine returns to action on Saturday, when the squad travels to West Long Branch, N.J., to take part in the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Open at the Hawks' Multipurpose Activity Center.
