Kings Point, NY – United States Merchant Marine Academy Athletic Director Sue Petersen Lubow recently announced the hiring of David Lawrence Jr. as the Mariners new Track and Field and Cross Country Head Coach. Lawrence Jr. will take the helm of the men's and women's programs as the Mariners have seen continued improvement over the last few seasons.
"I'm excited and honored that Sue Petersen Lubow and the search committee have entrusted me to lead the USMMA men's and women's track & field and cross country programs," said Lawrence Jr. "I'm extremely grateful for the support of my U.S. Track & Field family and the members who have prepared me for this opportunity. I look forward to having much success in the future and working with the young men and women of one of the finest service Academies in the country."
On top of leading the program as a whole, Lawrence Jr. will specifically work with athletes who compete in sprints, hurdles, and jumps.
