Kings Point, NY – The United States Merchant Marine Academy men's track and field team earned a total of five All-Conference distinctions for their first and second place finishes at last weekend's Landmark Conference Championships.

Senior Daniel Baxter (Coxsackie, NY) and the relay team of  sophomore Mickel McGann (Ocala, FL), freshman Jacob Weaver (Clifton, TX), junior co-captain Tyler McDaniel (Colorado Springs, CO) and freshman Thomas Duncan (Orlando, FL) captured respective conference championships in the 800m and 4x200m relay.

Baxter's time of 1:58.36 in the 800m bested the second place finisher by 1.44s, while the 4x200m team won their relay by a full 3.51s over second place and eventual conference champion Moravian.

In addition, Merchant Marine also had one individual and two relay teams earn Second Team All-Conference recognition for their runner-up finishes.

McGann ran the fastest 60m in USMMA history, topping his own record with a time of 7.06s; qualifying McGann for the ECAC Championships and earning a Second Team All-Conference award.

Also achieving Second Team honors with runner-up finishes was the 4x400m relay team of McGann, Weaver, freshman Tomas Sanchez, and freshman Dylan Tack (Coupeville, WA) and the 4x800m relay team of freshman Andrew Walsh (Granville, OH), freshman Matt Venanzi (Marlton, NJ), freshman Gus Newkirk (Plano, TX), and Baxter who crossed the finish line with a time of 8:15.36.
