KINGS POINT, N.Y. (March 5, 2018) – Recently, the Skyline Conference announced the results of the Preseason Coaches Poll for men's tennis and USMMA was picked to finish second with 36 points, including one first place vote. Four-time defending champion Yeshiva was the only team above the Mariners with 49 points and the remaining seven first place votes. Purchase took third with 35, followed by Mount Saint Mary (33), Farmingdale State (29), Sarah Lawrence (17), St. Joseph's-Long Island (15) and St. Joseph's- Brooklyn (8).

Additionally, the spring schedule has been revealed by third-year head coach Mo White. The Mariners open up the season on a Spring Break trip down in Florida this week.
The first of four matches in the Sunshine State will take place this Wednesday, March 7, against Otterbein University. Doubles action in that match is set to begin at 9 a.m. at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The spring season consists of 14 matches, split evenly between March and April. After the Otterbein match, the Mariners will take on Ursinus and Regis on Thursday, March 8 before the Florida trip culminates with a match against Saint John's (Minn.) on Friday, March 9.
The rest of March contains two Skyline Conference contests – one at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Thursday, March 22, the other at home against St. Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday, March 24 – which is the only home match of the month.
The heavily anticipated Coast Guard match for a point towards the 2017-18 Superintendent's Trophy standings will take place on Tuesday, March 27, up in New London, Conn.
April consists of four away and three home contests for the Mariners, three of which are against Skyline Conference opponents. The month begins with a road match against Farmingdale State on Tuesday, April 3. The Mariners then step back outside of Skyline action for a road tilt at Western Connecticut State on Thursday, April 5.
Merchant Marine hosts Purchase College on Saturday, April 7, but will travel for the next two matches at Mount St. Mary on Wednesday, April 11, and Sarah Lawrence on Saturday, April 14.
The regular season concludes with two-straight home matches, on Tuesday, April 17, against Yeshiva University and on Wednesday, April 18, against Ramapo College.
The top four teams at the end of the regular season will play in the Skyline Tournament, with the #1 seed hosting the #4 seed and the #2 seed playing the #3 seed. The first round matchups occur on Wednesday, May 2, with the championship match to take place on Saturday, May 5.
The Skyline Champion will earn an automatic berth into the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championships later in May.
