Six Mariners Selected To Landmark Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams
Back in May, the Landmark Conference announced the league’s spring season All-Sportsmanship Teams and USMMA had six student-athletes selected to the squads for their displays of sportsmanship throughout the season. The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team.

Despite Strong Effort, Tennis Falls In ECAC Title Match To Moravian On Sunday
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy tennis team lost to Landmark Conference-rival Moravian, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon in the ECAC Championship Match, hosted by Stevenson University at the Greenspring Tennis Courts. The Mariners conclude the season with an impressive 13-6 overall record, while the Greyhounds end the year at 13-7.

Tennis Defeats Stevenson To Advance To ECAC Championship Match; Will Face Moravian On Sunday For Title
The No. 2-seed USMMA tennis team defeated the host No. 3-seed Stevenson University, 5-2, on Saturday in the ECAC Semifinals at the Mustangs’ Greenspring Tennis Courts. The Mariners (13-5) will move on to face top-seeded Moravian (12-7) on Sunday in the Championship Match in an All-Landmark Conference Final.

McDonough Named Landmark Rookie Of The Year, Also Lands On First Team Along With Hicks
On Thursday, the Landmark Conference announced the post-season awards for men’s tennis and USMMA freshman Jake McDonough (Wilmington, N.C.) was selected by the conference’s head coaches as the Rookie of the Year. McDonough also landed on the All-Landmark First Team for singles along with sophomore James Hicks (Haddon Heights, N.J.) and the pair was also named to the Second Team for doubles.

Tennis Selected To Compete For ECAC Championship This Weekend As No. 2 Seed
The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) released the tournament field for the upcoming 2015 ECAC Division III Men’s Outdoor Tennis Championship on Monday, and USMMA earned the No. 2 seed in the four-team tournament. The ECAC Championship will be held this Saturday and Sunday, May 9-10, at Stevenson University in Stevenson, Md.

De Ryckere Named Landmark Athlete Of The Week; Mariners Gearing Up For Juniata This Afternoon In Landmark Semis
On Monday morning, the Landmark Conference announced the weekly awards for men’s tennis and USMMA junior Alec De Ryckere (San Diego, Calif.) was honored as the league’s athlete of the week. The accolade comes after De Ryckere helped lead the Mariners to three-straight victories in the final week of the regular season at home against John Jay on Tuesday, on the road at Elizabethtown on Friday and back at home on Saturday against Scranton.

The USMMA tennis team is heading to the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time in program history! In front of a large and supportive crowd of 147 at the Brooks Stadium Courts on Saturday afternoon, the Mariners punched their ticket with a 5-4 home victory over the University of Scranton in a win-and-your-in matchup for both teams.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy tennis team defeated Landmark Conference opponent Elizabethtown, 5-4, at the Blue Jays’ Alumni Courts on Friday to improve its winning streak to seven-straight (and 10 of its last 11) matches. The Mariners improve to 11-4 overall (4-3 Landmark) with the victory, while E-Town falls to 4-12 (2-6 Landmark) in defeat.

The Mariners improve to 10-4 overall on the season, while the Bloodhounds fall to 4-9.

The Mariners sit at 9-4 overall and have guaranteed a winning regular season for the first time in recent program history.

James Hicks Named Landmark Men’s Tennis Athlete Of The Week
On Monday, the Landmark Conference announced its Athletes of the Week and USMMA sophomore James Hicks (Haddon Heights, N.J.) earned the honor for men’s tennis. This is the second time in his career that Hicks was named the Athlete of the Week, as he also got the accolade back on March 31, 2014, during his freshman campaign.

For the second-straight day an athletic contest between the U.S. Merchant Marine academy and the City College of New York has been postponed due to weather. This time the two institutions’ tennis match that was scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. has been affected by Mother Nature.
